The Ruby Rogue here! Or you might know me as divingfalcons. Or Alana. I’ll take anything. I’m a 23 year old who likes to write. I like to game. I like to talk about films. I live in an obscure-ish little town called Worthing in England. Oscar Wilde lived here for a bit, and Billy Idol went to college here, so we probably deserve a little bit more recognition, but I digress.
I was pretty much born with a controller in my hand, and I’ve been playing video games since before I started going to playgroup. When I was a kid I used to run around the playground and pretend I was in a Sonic the Hedgehog game. As sad as that might sound, I’ve been a lover of immersion in gaming form since my early days, and this has carried through to my later life. My true love of the gaming world is RPGs, and I’ve been playing these since I was 7. Each new world and new story I come across fascinates me and gives me a chance to escape from reality for a good 30 or so hours, and I’m always welcome for a bit of escapism. I also review games at RPGFan, where I work with some of the most awesome people I’ve ever spoken to.
So outside of my geeky little bubble, my life is pretty average. I work full time for a utility company. It’s not glamorous, but it pays the bills and I like to try and read a little bit, but since graduating from university I’ve let that slip by the wayside a little.
The Ruby Rogue was inspired by a colleague at RPGFan, Mike Sollosi, who picked up on my two favourite games. Ruby refers to Ruby from Final Fantasy IX, my all time favourite FF game, who’s part of the Tantalus theatre group. Rougue refers to my favourite video game of all time, Skies of Arcadia, where you play as Vyse, a member of the Blue Rogue sky pirates. I also play a Rogue/Ninja in Final Fantasy XIV.
I hope you’ll put up with my antics! Ruby Rogue – ATTAAAACK.
